+ Χριστὸς νικᾷ. ἘκοιμήθηἘκυμέθη Λεόν+τιςΛεών+τις Σίλου ἐν μηνίμενί Ἀπριλίῳ δεκάτῃδεκάδι, τοῦ υγ´. + +

Translation

Christ is victorious. Leonti(o)s, (son) of Silas, fell asleep (died)on the tenth (day) of the monthof April, in the (year) 403.

Dated to April 10, 403 E.P.A. = April 10, 508 CE, using Roman month name instead of Macedonian. Line two: a decorative angular bracket follows the patronymic.

  • Horizontal band decorated with a zigzag pattern runs below the epitaph

  • Deeply engraved cross with triangular bars and a dot in its center to the left of the first line

  • Peacock with body facing left and head turned to the right, holding palm branch in its bill below the arch, on the right side. faint traces of a similar peacock are barely discernible on the left side

  • Partially preserved vase (?) below the inscription, in between the peacocks

  • Small incised cross formed of four dots beginning of line 2

  • Schematic arch below the epitaph, interrupting the horizontal band

  • Decorative angular bracket following the patronymic in line 2
