Transcription

+ + Εἷς Θεός, πάντων Δεσπότης.Ἐνθάδε κεῖτε Μαρία Πέτρου,ζήσασα ἔτη ογ μετὰ καλοῦ ὀνόματος, ἀποθανοῦσα μηνὶ ἈρτεμεσίουἈρτεμισίῳ ςκ, ἰνδικτιῶνος πέμπτης, υς. ΕὐμοίριΕὐμοίρει, οὐδὶςοὐδείς ἀθάνατος.

Translation

One (is) the God, the Lord of all. Here lies Maria(?), (daughter) of Petros(?), who lived 73(?) years having a good name, and died on (the) 26th (day) of (the) month Artemisios, in (the) fifth indiction, (in the year) 406. Have a good fortune, no one (is) immortal.

The inscription gives the date as the 26th day of the month Artemisios, in the fifth indiction, in the year 406 according to the Era of the Province of Arabia, that is May 16, 511 CE. The tombstone is one of about 700 discovered in Byzantine Zoora. The majority of the Greek tombstones from this location have been identified as Christian.
